LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen opened their Tuesday meeting with a moment of silence for longtime Town Clerk and Town Manager Maxine Bailey of Livermore Falls, who died Saturday at age 83.

Bailey served nine years in each position and retired in 1998.

Bailey’s family requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her name to the Livermore Falls clock restoration project and listed an Internet link to it. The link and file are not active and haven’t been for several years. The tower clock restoration project was completed years ago, Town Manager Kristal Flagg said.

There is about $300 left in the account. The town also no longer has a Paypal account that was associated with the clock restoration campaign.

The board agreed to accept the donations for the clock atop the Bank Building and use it for future restorations of the clock.

The donations can be brought to the Town Office or mailed to the Town Office at 2 Main St., Livermore Falls, ME 04254. They need to be clearly marked that they are in memory of Bailey or that they are for the clock restoration fund, Flagg said.

She plans to contact the Finley Funeral Home in Livermore Falls to let them know about the situation.

A celebration of Bailey’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home on Church Street in Livermore Falls.

In other business, Flagg told the board that she received an email from Pat Allen, president of the Library Association, informing them of the resignation of library Director Elaine Smith due to illness.

“Personally, I want to wish her well and thank her for her great job and years of dedication,” Flagg said.

In another matter, Flagg said the board is accepting applications from residents to join the Budget Committee. Six members are needed to complete the nine-member panel, she said.
