MEXICO — The Mexico Public Library will host a winter Reading Olympics for kids ages 2-12 during February.

The program will begin on Monday, Feb. 3, and continue through Friday, Feb. 28.

The Reading Olympics will be a reading incentive program and will also incorporate exposure to some great new children’s books that the library recently obtained with a children’s book grant from the Libri Foundation. The Libri books will be available for a sign-out of three books at a time per reading “athlete,” as well as any age-appropriate books from the library.

Each participant will receive a reading record to keep track of their progress throughout the Olympics. Readers will keep track of the number of books read on their own or with an adult. Also, a reader will receive extra credit for every Libri book they read during the month-long program.

A choice of prizes will be available to reading “athletes” for books they’ve read during the month. There will be a very special prize for the reader in each of the two age groups (ages 2-6 and 7-12) who reads the largest number of books during the month-long program.

For more information, stop by the library or call 364-3281.
