NORWAY — The Second Congregational Church invites residents to join in developing a plan for a healthier life.
In discussions over the last few months, many members have stated they need to make changes and take steps in a positive direction. In searching for a plan to support that decision, they found information on “The Daniel Plan — 40 Days to a Healthier Life.”
The plan was developed by Pastor Rick Warren, author of the best selling book, “The Purpose Driven Life,” in collaboration with Dr. Daniel Amen, Dr. Mark Hyman, and Dr. Mehmet Oz.
The Daniel Plan is designed to help people adapt to a healthier lifestyle through a comprehensive 52-week journey. The plan details a healthy lifestyle that encompasses five essential principles of Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus and Friends.
It is more than a diet; it is about living a healthier life based on biblical principles. Each essential within The Daniel Plan is intended to hold up one’s life, enliven one’s body, enrich one’s mind and fill one’s heart. It is also about spiritual health and the importance of building a foundation on God for all other areas of life.
Beth Kane and Pam Davison will lead the journey. The first six weeks will lay the foundation for the new steps toward a healthier life.
Each week there will be a time of fellowship, a brief video or DVD on each of the essential parts of the plan (faith, food, fitness, focus and friends), and end with a discussion of that week’s focus
There is no cost, however participants are encourage to consider picking up the book, “The Daniel Plan – 40 Days to a Healthier Life.”
All of the meetings will be held at the church, 205 Main St., from 5:30 to 7 p.m. beginning on Thursday, Feb. 6.
