LIVERMORE FALLS — Two people were transported to a hospital after a fire ripped through a mobile home Monday at 206 Haines Corner Road, fire Chief Tim “TD” Hardy said.
A dog perished in the fire and two cats are missing, he said.
The couple’s injuries are not life-threatening, he said. They were taken by a NorthStar EMS ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He did not know the names of the couple early Monday evening.
The fire started on the stove, he said, but fire investigators are not certain if it was a cooking fire or started by something left on the stove, he said.
A state fire investigator came to the scene and another one was going to talk to the couple in the hospital to get more information.
The owner of the mobile home is Rick Tompkins, who lives in a separate mobile home on the same lot, Hardy said. Hardy said he was told they were Tompkins’ grandparents.
When firefighters arrived at the home, it was fully engulfed in flames, Hardy said. The mobile home was not insured.
About 30 firefighters from Livermore Falls, Jay, Livermore and Wilton and an ambulance from NorthStar EMS responded to the 2:48 p.m. fire. An occupant of the home had gone down the street to report the fire, he said.
