MEXICO — Region 9 Adult Education announces its classes for February.
WOOD CARVING FOR BEGINNERS
Learn the basics of wood carving by creating an ornament and a Santa Claus. The picture is an example of what you might carve. Cost of wood for two projects is included in the fee for this class. Tools for home use during class are available for a $15 refundable fee.

Date: Monday, Feb. 24 to March 31
Time: 6 to 9 p.m.
Location: Dirigo High School Shop class
Fee: $73 payment; deadline is Feb. 14.

DANCE-BALLROOM
Learn the Foxtrot and the waltz with your partner! This is a great way to exercise the winter blues away and learn a new skill at the same time. Get yourself ready for the wedding season.

Time: 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Fee: $48 Payment deadline is Feb. 20

WORD AND KEYBOARDING
Tired of hunting and peeking for the keys on the keyboard? Want to create professional documents faster? Need to brush up your skills for a job? This class will help you improve your speed and accuracy as well as letting you in on the secrets of Word.
Instructor: Amy Hatch
Dates: Monday, Feb. 24 through March 17
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
Fee: $40 Payment deadline is Feb. 13

CERTIFIED RESIDENTIAL MEDICATION AIDE
This 40-hour course prepares you to help distribute medication to patients. Jobs are always available for this certification. Take this class as an introduction to the medical field or to enhance your existing skills.

Mandatory Informational Meeting: Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.

PHLEBOTOMY
This is a great class if you already work in the medical field and want to increase your skills. Learn all about the circulatory system and how it relates to drawing blood. Students do at least 10 ‘live’ pricks and need to provide volunteers for those sessions. This class is extremely popular, so do not wait to sign up for it. Please call 364-2012 to obtain a testing date prior to enrolling in this class.

CAREER PLANNING: FIND YOUR PLACE IN TODAY’S JOB MARKET
(ONLINE CLASS)
Prepare for your next career or job with a plan that’s right for you. In this class you will review your skills, interests, and experiences and relate them to occupations; identify educational opportunities; research the local job market; and develop a step-by-step plan to achieve your goals. Whether you are unemployed, underemployed, or considering a career change, this class will help you achieve employment success for today and tomorrow. This class is delivered online to give you the most flexibility in taking the course.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING
This class is sponsored by The Bureau of Highway Safety. This defensive driving course offers crash-avoidance techniques which are essential for everyday driving situations with films, classroom and lectures. Those finishing this class will receive a three-point credit on their driving record and potentially lower your insurance costs

Dates: Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 25 and 27
Time: 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Fee: $40 payment deadline is Feb. 13

CAREER CENTER ORIENTATION
To find out about the services offered through the Career Center attend this introductory workshop. Meet with a counselor and find out how they might be able to help you.

ORIENTATION FOR ACADEMIC CLASSES AT REGION 9
Please attend our Orientation session to learn more about obtaining your high school diploma or upgrading your skills for work our college.
Date: Friday, Feb. 28 at 9 a.m.
Time: 9 a.m.-plan on staying for four hours
Fee: No cost
