DIXFIELD — A special subcommittee of the RSU 10 board will begin its extensive inventory of all buildings in the district later this week.

The work is expected to be completed by late March. Information gathered may help in the development of the 2014-15 school budget.

The committee, comprised of board members Jerry Wiley and Michelle Casey of Buckfield, Judy Boucher of Byron, Brad Gallant of Rumford, Denise Cross of Roxbury and Peter DeFilipp of Mexico, will gather information on the amount of space available and present its findings to the full board.

The district supports 11 schools and a couple of other buildings. Some have said that fewer buildings may be needed and space may not be used as efficiently as it could be.

Another special subcommittee charged with reviewing the district’s educational curriculum is also scheduled to meet later this week. That committee will review the consistency of curriculum taught in each of the school’s three regions. Board members serving on the Curriculum Committee are Bruce Ross and Barbara Chow of Dixfield, Michelle Casey of Buckfield, David Lynch of Sumner and Ronnie Hutchinson of Carthage.
