FARMINGTON — Poets are wanted for the second annual contest planned for Poetry Month in April and in honor of Shakespeare’s 450th birthday on April 23.

The contest is sponsored by the Farmington Public Library and Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset counties.

Local poets are welcome to submit up to three poems, limited to 60 lines or fewer, by March 15. These may be left at the Farmington Public Library or mailed to Literacy Volunteers at 108 Fairbanks Road, Farmington, ME 04938.

Along with the poem, a name, age category and contact information are needed on each submission.

Winners will be announced April 17 and all winners given a public reading April 23. The winners will also be published in the June edition of LV Words, a Literacy Volunteers publication.

Cash prizes will be awarded in two categories, poets 20 years old and younger, and poets 21 years old and older.

For more information, contact the Farmington Public Library at 778-4312 or Literacy Volunteers at 778-3460.
