OTCThe first annual Old Town community food drive to benefit local food pantries is now winding down.

All items collected up until Feb. 28 will stay in Old Town and will be dispersed to the local pantries. Food for the drive may be left off at drop boxes during regular business hours in the following city buildings: city hall, the library, the public safety building, the Herbert Sargent Community Center, the transfer station, the pollution control facility, and the water district office. Donations also can be dropped off at the Old Town-Orono YMCA, Old Town High School, the Leonard Middle School, and Old Town Elementary School. And this Sunday only, Feb. 23, town officials will be at Hannaford in Old Town accepting donations from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

In addition to food items, anyone wishing to donate cash or a check can do so as well, cash will be used to purchase nonperishable food items to add to the final delivery. Anyone with a check question is asked to contact Travis Roy at troy@old-town.org.
