1930 – 2014

PITTSFORD, N.Y. — Dorothy Lucille Chateauvert Buckley, 83, a longtime resident of Lansing, N.Y., and formerly of Leeds, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 22, at Highlands Living Center in Pittsford, N.Y., with her loving family by her side.

She was a Matron of the Eastern Star starting in Parrish, N.Y., in 1950, and was still a member. She worked at Baker’s Chicken Coop at the New York State Fair from 1962 until 1998, and volunteered at Cayuga Medical Center, earning 18,000 hours of service from 1978 to 2011 — the most of anyone.

She was president of the auxiliary at Cayuga Medical Center and received recognition of appreciation in 1984. In her affiliation with  Lansing United Methodist Church, Dot volunteered countless hours with her dear friend, Fannie Welch, in fundraising, catering wedding and funeral receptions, dinners and luncheons, as well as being a choir member for more than 50 years. She also worked at election polls for 30 years, receiving the Tompkins Trust Bank Volunteer Award and the Lions Distinguished Service Award.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Raymond Canwell Buckley; four children, Raema Jane Trewer, Lorna Jeanne (Gary) Vining, Shaun Guy (Kathy) Buckley and Anissa Joye Buckley; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Dell, Mary, Janice, Glenice and Lainey; and a brother, Richard, all residing in Maine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Carroll and Conrad Chateauvert.
