RUMFORD — A snow fort to play and slide on, sleigh rides and the Never Ever World Cup Race are some of the events planned for the upcoming WinterFest Weekend at Black Mountain.
The action gets started Friday from 6-9 p.m. with live music by Noel and Don in the Last Run Pub.
On Saturday from 9 a.m. to sellout, mimosas and muffins will be available in the Last Run Pub, with breakfast sandwiches and a barbeque at the Summit from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
There will be a scenic lift ride, with tickets sold until 11:45 a.m. There will be chairlift side up at noon and down at 1:30 p.m. Cost is $3.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be sleigh rides for $10, with those under age five free with paying adult.
The Never Ever World Cub Race, for ages 14 and under, take place at 2 p.m. Cost is $3.
There will be a scavenger hunt at 3 p.m., with live music from 4-7 p.m. by Denny Breau in the Last Run Pub.
From 5 p.m. until sellout, there will be a lasagna dinner for $10 per plate.
At 8 p.m., there will be fireworks. The chairlift will stop at 7:45, so skiers will be able to view the fireworkds from the top of the T-bar. Lifts will run until 10.
On Sunday at 9 a.m. to sellout will be muffins and make-your-own Mary’s in the Last Run Pub, where the Adult Apres Ski will be held at 3 p.m.
All weekend long, there will be a snow fort to play and slide on, and ice fishing on the snowmaking pond.
Snowshoers are welcome to use the edge of the cross-country trails or the hiking trail to the summit.
In addition, the mountain is having free ski and tube nights this Thursday and on Thursday, March 6.
There will be free skiing, snowboarding and tubing from 4-9 p.m., with rentals for $15. All tubers must have a signed release form and underage tubers must have a responsible adult sign their form. For more information, call 364-8977.
