DIXFIELD — The RSU 10 Buildings and Grounds Committee will begin their tours of the 11 or so district buildings Wednesday morning at Dirigo Elementary School in Peru.

Superintendent Craig King said the committee will visit every school and building to look at the condition, quality and capacity of each and report to the school board in April.

“The school board will decide the space allocation, and whether to move kids or close buildings,” he said.

There are no plans for such measures, but administration will use the data to make changes later, if necessary, he said.

Also at Monday’s board meeting, the three representatives on the Region 9 School of Applied Technology Cooperative Board were reappointed to three-year terms. They are Betty Barrett of Mexico, Kevin Kaulback of Rumford and Don Hutchins III of Canton.

Hartford board member Shawn White was the only dissenting vote. He said he wants Region 9 board members to be elected, rather than appointed.

* Meroby Elementary School received a $50 grant and free books as part of the Read Across America program.

* Board members were invited to a Day at the State House by the Maine School Management Association on March 24 to discuss educational matters of interest or concern with local legislators.
