POLAND — The Poland Players will present the energetic and foot-tapping musical “Footloose” at 7 p.m. March 13-15; and at 2 p.m. March 16, in the Robert Wall Theater located at Poland Regional High School.
Based on the 1984 film of the same name starrng Kevin Bacon, the musical tells the story of Ren McCormack, a teenager who moves from Chicago to a small, conservative town and discovers there is a ban on dancing and rock music.
When he decides to challenge the ban, the entire community is affected and in the process discovers truths about themselves and what is really important in life.
“Footloose” features really fun and uplifting songs from the 1980s such as “Holding Out for a Hero” and “Let’s Hear It For the Boy” as well as the iconic title song. The show will have the audience dancing in their seats as they root for Ariel and Ren to find a happy ending.
