Lewiston and Auburn sports who remember the old roller polo days hero are looking forward to March 5 when Manager Buckley will get an all-star team together to play the Bath team. The team will be made up of Eddie Cote, goal; Leo Welch, half back; Jack O’Brien, center; and Dudley of Fall River and Skinner of Rockland as the two rushes. It is now eight years since Lewiston has had roller polo and all of the above players have played professional games since then. The rules have been changed some since the old days. When a foul is now committed the ball is placed in the center and an opposing player is allowed to drive the ball toward the goal with only the goal tender defending. This is called a free hit.

A planned expansion to Geiger Bros. gained Lewiston Planning Board approval Tuesday night as did a subdivision plan for the former “Peck’s property” on Main Street, which paves the way for the city’s purchase of the new parking garage there. Geiger Bros. is planning to add a 24,000-square-foot expansion to its existing building on Mount Hope Avenue. Eugene Geiger, president of the company most famous for its publication of the Farmers’ Almanac, has said he expects the addition, which may be completed by this spring or summer, will lead to the company’s hiring 25 to 50 more employees over the next three to five years.
