LIVERMORE — The Road Committee is working on a plan to improve River Road and others this year.
The committee plans to ask for $280,000 in the 2014-15 budget. The committee expects $21,000 will be left in the account this spring after South Road is paved. The panel will ask that the money be carried over to the next budget that begins July 1, for a total of $301,000 in the Highway Capital Improvement Account, town Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub said Thursday.
The plan is to improve approximately 7,000 feet of River Road to begin at Center Road and to move south. The surface would be ground up and approximately 6 inches of gravel added to the base and 2 inches of base-coat pavement would be applied, he said.
“The total cost of this project is ball parked at approximately $244,000,” he said.
The additional money will cover placing a finish coat of pavement on the upper end of Round Pond Road.
A finish coat is also needed on Israelson Road, but the panel agreed it can wait another year because that road sees little traffic, Schaub said.
