1910 – 2014

LEWISTON — Jeanne B. Carbonneau, 104, formerly of Charles Street in Lewiston, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Thursday morning, Feb. 27, at Marshwood Center, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in St. Methode, Quebec, on Jan. 20, 1910, the daughter of Bernard and Georgianna (Grenier) Bureau. Jeanne moved to Lewiston with her family as a teenager and took care of her younger siblings while her parents worked in the mills.

In 1947, she married the love of her life, Roland J. Carbonneau. They raised their family in Lewiston, until Roland passed away in 1980, after 33 years of marriage.

Jeanne was an accomplished and very talented seamstress, tailor, rug-maker and designer. In later years, she also worked as a tailoring instructor for Lewiston Adult Education. She thoroughly enjoyed using her seamstress and tailoring skills to make clothes for family and friends throughout her life.

Jeanne had the gift of hospitality, and loved hosting and cooking for family events and holidays. She had a strong, passionate faith and was a loyal attendant at daily Mass, as well as active in Holy Cross Church activities.

Survivors include two sons, Claude R. Carbonneau and wife, Veronica, of Rockport and Dr. Robert J. Carbonneau and wife, Pauline, of Nashua, N.H.; two daughters, Nina C. Webster and husband, Arlon “Butch,” of Lewiston and Colette S. Carbonneau and husband, John Maciejewski, of Brunswick; one sibling, Brother Henri-Louis Bureau, CSV, of Joliette, Quebec; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.
