The Department of Environmental Protection’s new mining rules should be of concern to all Maine residents.

It shouldn’t matter whether it is Aroostook, Androscoggin or any county in Maine — no amount of new employment and corporate profit is worth poisoning our water and land resources.

Let’s take our state motto seriously and “lead” the country with a clean environment for all. People and businesses of this new century who care will find Maine a special place to live, locate and grow.
