RUMFORD — Mexico High School Class of 1953 will hold its luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Gatch’s.

Spouses and friends welcome.

Chili, chowder cook-off is March 8

RUMFORD — A chili and chowder cook-off will take place at noon Saturday, March 8, at Mountain Valley High School, 799 Hancock St.

Cost is $5 for six sample cups.

There will also be raffles and a bake sale.

The suggested donation to register is $10.

Trophies will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place winners.

All proceeds will benefit River Valley Relay for Life.

‘Voices of the Valley’ set for March 8

RUMFORD — The eighth annual vocal talent competition, “Voices of the Valley,” will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Mountain Valley High School, 799 Hancock St.

Admission is $5.

Registration is $10 per participant.

Prizes will be awarded to the top two in each category: youth, teen and adult. First place is $100; second place, $50.

Top prize of $100 for the overall winner.

All proceeds will benefit River Valley Relay for Life.

Gourmet hike may include ice

RUMFORD — The Mahoosuc Land Trust is having its first winter gourmet hike on Rumford Whitecap at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 8. Meet in the parking area on the East Andover Road with ice creepers, poles, warm layers, water, a gourmet dish to share at the summit and your own eating utensils.

Footwear recommendation has been changed from snowshoes to ice creepers given trail conditions and lack of new snow.
