1927 – 2014

AUBURN — E. Louise Anderson, 86, of Bowdoin and formerly of Shrewsbury, Mass., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 2, after a nine-month battle with cancer.

She was born on July 3, 1927, in Worcester, Mass., the daughter of the late Clarence and Edith (Myers) Kimerly. Louise “Lee” and Charlie were the first couple in New England to move their wedding date up so that they could be married before he shipped off to Korea to serve our country in the U.S. Marine Corps, and she started her 17-year service to our country as a Marine Corps wife; they were married July 22, 1950, in Worcester, Mass.

Lee worked many years in the banking community in southern California and Worcester, Mass., before retiring to Bowdoin in 1978; she eventually retired from the workforce while at Bates College in Lewiston.

While living in Maine, Lee was active in the community, especially with the Lisbon Area Christian Outreach, where she served on the executive board with terms as president for more than 15 years. She was also very active in her church, West Bowdoin Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer for more than 20 years, until relinquishing her duties in February due to illness.

She leaves her loving husband of more than 63 years, Charles O. Anderson Jr., of Bowdoin; her daughters, Faith Bourgault and her husband, Ed, of Worcester, Mass., and Beth E. Manero and Paul Taylor of Holden, Mass. She is also survived by her three grandsons, David Noel of Boston, Mass., Richard Noel and his wife, Lisa, and her son, Mikey, of Wales, Mass., and Nicholas C. Manero of Holden, Mass.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Kimerly.
