AUBURN — Evelyn C. (Keene) LaChance, 80, passed away March 1 at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice with her husband by her side.

She was born Oct. 13, 1933, in Mechanic Falls, the daughter of Percy and Cora (Harlow) Keene. She was educated in local schools in Mechanic Falls and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1952. On Sept. 7, 1974, she married Thomas J. LaChance in Auburn.

Over the years, she worked at many shoe shops and laundries and took care of many children. She enjoyed doing word searches, reading and loved to take pictures.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Thomas J. LaChance of Auburn; son, Philip Rand and wife, Norene, of Auburn; brother, Eugene Keene and wife, Marlena, of Minot; brother-in-law, Roland LaChance of Wells; sister-in-law, Donna Brown of Smithfield; foster daughter, Brenda Brackett of Auburn; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; and very close friends and traveling buddies, Bob and Ida Chase.

Evelyn was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Keene, and two brothers-in-law, Albert LaChance and Robert LaChance.

LaChance — Evelyn C. (Keene), 80, passed away March 1. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 7,  at 11 a.m. at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Evelyn’s memory to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, Stetson Road, Auburn, ME 04210.
