Free community luncheon

OTISFIELD — A free community luncheon will be hosted by Otisfield Community Outreach from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the Otisfield Community Hall on Route 121.

Menu will be beans, hot dogs, brown bread, salads, drinks and desserts.

A magazine swap will take place. Donations accepted.

Program on memory loss, dementia

FRYEBURG — The Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter will present “The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s Disease” from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the Fryeburg Public Library, 515 Main St.

The program is open to anyone who would like to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging. It is a progressive and fatal brain disease that is the most common form of dementia.

The workshop’s information includes symptoms and effects of Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia; how Alzheimer’s affects the brain; causes and risk factors; how to find out if it’s Alzheimer’s disease; the benefits of early detection; how to address a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease; stages of the disease; treatment; hope for the future and ways the Alzheimer’s Association can help.

Chinese auction for Boy Scouts

PARIS — A Chinese auction with proceeds to benefit Boy Scout Troop 130 will be held on Saturday, March 22, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, 18 Pine St.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. Tickets will be sold until 6 and drawings will begin at 6:15. Food items and snacks will be sold. Money earned helps to fund camping trips and other activities.

Paris Fire Aux. indoor yard sale

PARIS — Paris Fire Department Auxiliary will hold a traditional indoor yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the Paris Fire Department, Western Avenue.

Cost is $10 per table.

There will be a lunch counter and bake sale.

Team Froyd, Relay for Life, Oxford Hills will have a table with Luminary bags, a RADA Cutlery fundraiser and paper feet and cupcakes for sale in honor or memory of a loved one.

Registration for kindergarten classes

PARIS — Registration and screening for next year’s kindergarten class at Paris Elementary School will be held on Thursday, May 15.

Children who will be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15 are eligible to attend kindergarten. Parents are encouraged to contact the Paris Elementary School office immediately to set an appointment time for May 15. Appointments will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis.

Be prepared to give the child’s name, birth date, home address and phone number. On May 15, parents must present a copy of the child’s official birth certificate, a copy of the immunization record and a copy of the child’s most recent physical exam.
