DIXFIELD — Maine Warden Service Cpl. John MacDonald on Friday identified the snowmobiler injured Thursday night as Thomas Averill, 47, of Mexico.
Averill lost control of his machine on a trail near Coburn Avenue about 8 p.m. and suffered a possible hip fracture and other injuries, Josh Smith of the Maine Warden Service said.
“He was riding with a couple of friends,” Smith said. “He failed to negotiate a curve, and he left the trail.”
Averill’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. He was flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. A nursing supervisor Friday night said there was no one there by that name.
None of the other riders were involved in the crash, Smith said.
