1933 – 2014

GRAY — Beverly (Jordan) Benson, 80, passed away peacefully on March 1, at the Casco Village Inn, where she resided for the last several years. She had just enjoyed cookies and ginger ale with her brother Richard (Dick) Jordan. He passed away just 5 days later.

Beverly was born in Portland on Oct. 13, 1933, the youngest of three children born to Walter and Madeline (Jackson) Jordan. She attended Portland Schools, graduating from Portland High School. She worked for New England Telephone Company until her retirement. Following retirement she worked for SAD 15 as a van driver. She was an avid golfer and a member at Poland Springs Golf Course for many years.

Beverly married the love of her life and her brother’s best friend, Roland “Benny” Benson in 1986 at the Old Sole’s Chapel at Poland Springs. They spend winters in Florida and summers in Maine. Following Benny’s death, Beverly moved to Gray and lived near her brother Dick. She prepared his meals nightly and golfed with him daily.

Beverly was a collector of all cute stuffed animals. She was an accomplished dancer and singer and loved to be the center of attention. She was a very devoted daughter to both her parents and cared for her mother throughout her life.

 She is survived by her bonus children, Craig Benson and his wif,e Andrea, and their children, Michael and Marcus; and bonus son, Frank Benson; niece, Nancy and her husband, Skip; niece, Cathy Manchester and her husband, Jay; nephew, Wally Jordan and his wife Judy.

Beverly was predeceased by her mother and father; her husband, Benny; her brother, Walter; nephews, Stephen and Dickie; and most recently her brother, Dick.
