LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing will host a Community Garden Information Session from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at the center, 29 Lowell St., fifth floor.

The Dempsey Center Community Garden project allows people to experience the many benefits that community gardening offers, including exercise, improved nutrition, horticulture therapy and local food production.

Participants can volunteer to help others with their gardening, or manage their own raised-bed vegetable garden from planting to harvesting and enjoying fresh produce.

This initiative is made possible through the generosity of Cascades Fiber in Auburn, which is donating the land and supplies to support the project.

The session is hosted by Dempsey Center registered dietitian Amanda Ettinger and master gardener Dennis Connelly.
