1929 – 2014

ONTARIO, Ore. — David A. Wheeler of Ontario, Ore., died Friday, March 7, at age 84.

Born June 16, 1929, in Lewiston, he served in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Airlift. He was the son of Walter and Elizabeth (Simpson) Wheeler. David worked for Lewiston-Auburn car dealerships and was also a talented cabinetmaker and craftsman.

He was hired by Thomas Moser in Tom’s early years, crafting Shaker furniture in New Gloucester. He lived in Greene, until he moved West in 1979. He retired from Hollingsworth John Deere in Ontario, Ore.

Dave is survived by his wife of 54 years, LucyOla (Strout) Wheeler; and four children, Vikki Sipes (Darin) of Payette, Idaho, Kathy Egbert (Hugh) of Emmett, Idaho, David Russell (Olga) of Loja, Ecuador, and Linda Tibbetts Miller (Ken) of Eaton, Ohio. He is also mourned by 16 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. His sister, Hannah Stevenson, of Hartford, Conn., is his only surviving sibling.
