LEWISTON —  March is Youth Art Month. The Maine Art Education Association celebrates the nationally recognized event in March with student art exhibits statewide.

The Portland Museum of Art is celebrating its 20th anniversary of hosting the statewide student art exhibit in recognition of Youth Art Month.

Two Lewiston Middle School students will have their art hang in the museum from March 8 through April 6. An opening reception was held March 8. Megan St. Cyr, grade seven, has her collage on exhibit, and Brooke Smiley, grade eight, is displaying her mask.

A second statewide exhibit is in Augusta at the Maine Education Association Office. This exhibit will be on display until November. An art opening was held March 9.

Congratulations to Abbie Howe, grade seven, for her collage and Sahro Noor, grade eight, for her self-portrait.

Lewiston Middle School art teachers are Kay Allison and Kate Cargile.
