NEW PORTLAND (AP) — Authorities have arrested a woman they say fired a gun at a Somerset County sheriff’s deputy from the doorway of a New Portland home.
The deputy was not injured.
Police told the Morning Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1cWgY6C ) it started at about 11 p.m. Tuesday when 34-year-old Bonnie Jean Tanguay called 911, but seemed “extremely vague” about the reason for the call.
When Deputy David Cole arrived, the home was dark, so he approached the door. That’s when Tanguay allegedly opened fire before retreating back inside.
Cole took cover, and when Tanguay came to the door again, Cole got close enough to tackle her. She was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. She remains jailed and it’s unclear if she has a lawyer.
