LEWISTON — Holy Cross Knights of Columbus, Council 12652 presents Sunday Afternoon at the Movies.

In recognition of the canonization of Pope John Paul II, movies in March and April will feature a mini series of Karol Wojtyla’s journey from worker, to poet and teacher, priest and eventually Pope.

On March 16, the Knights will present “Karol: A Man Who Became Pope.” It features his many dreams as one by one they are shattered with the loss of his mother and brother, the outbreak of war, the persecution of his Jewish friends and the death of his father.

On April 20, the movie will be “Pope John Paul II,” starring Jon Voight’s powerful, Emmy-nominated performance as the journey continues from Poland to Rome when he is elected Pope as he defends the dignity of mankind.

The shows will be at Holy Cross church hall and start at 1 p.m. on both dates. There will be concessions. There is no charge, but good-will donations are accepted.
