It took me four months and dozens of hours on the phone with the national exchange (since Maine was wise enough not to attempt to create one) to replace the insurance policy I liked with another one under Obamacare.
I thought I was finally squared away as of Feb. 1. But I just learned that my primary care physician will not participate in Obamacare, and neither will the surgeon who was scheduled to perform desperately needed surgery to repair my ankle injury — an injury that has left me in great pain and unable to walk correctly.
When I called Mike Michaud’s office for his help, since he thinks so highly of the program and eagerly voted for it, his assistant, Brian Zimmer, told me that “President Obama and the entire Congress and their staff have Obamacare.” He then proceeded to tell me that there was nothing that they could do and “Have a nice day.”
President Obama was awarded the “Lie of the Year” award from the fact-checking website PolitiFact.
Rep. Michaud should not seek the same accolade.
