BATH – Shakespeare on the Kennebec will hold auditions for its summer 2014 production of “Taming of the Shrew” at 7 p.m. March 28 and April 4, and at 1 p.m. March 29 and April 5, in the conference room of The Plant Home at 1 Washington St.

The Shakespeare comedy will be directed by John Willey, and performed outdoors on the riverside lawn of The Plant Home on July 11-12 and 18-19. Male and female actors ages 17 and older are encouraged to audition for lead and ensemble parts. A minimum of 10 men and three women of varying ages will be cast, with more than 30 possible characters making up the production.

All levels of experience are welcome. Those auditioning should prepare a short monologue of less than three minutes, which does not have to be from Shakespeare, and be prepared to read from the script if requested. Auditioners may also bring a head shot and brief biography, but they are not required.

Actors should be able to commit to three rehearsals per week on an as-needed basis. Two evening weekday rehearsals will last two and a half hours, and one weekend rehearsal will be three to four hours each week. Rehearsals will take place at The Plant Home conference room.

Shakespeare on the Kennebec is a Bath-based theater company that debuted last year with a production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” under the direction of Willey. He has also directed for the New England Regional Theatre Company and the Studio Theater of Bath.
