Program on diet for blood pressure

NORWAY — The DASH Diet has been proven to help people lower their blood pressure. Join Stephens Memorial Hospital’s registered dietitian Pat Watson to learn more about this eating plan while sampling delicious, low-sodium, heart-healthy recipes. DASH diet booklets and recipes will be provided.

Stephens Memorial Hospital will hold the program from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, in the Harper Conference Center in the Ripley Medical Office Building, 193 Main St.

BRIDGTON — Chamber After Hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot St.

Responsible Pet Care basket bingo

NORWAY — Responsible Pet Care will hold Longaberger bingo on Sunday, March 30, at Norway Legion Hall on Main Street.

Doors open 11 a.m., bingo starts 12:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for 16 games of regular bingo. There will also be coverall games, raffle baskets, 50/50 raffle and refreshments.

Ken Verrill Memorial Blood Drive

NORWAY — The Ken Verrill Memorial Blood Drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 31, at the Masonic hall on Temple Street.

Anyone wanting to make an appointment should call 1800-RED CROSS. There will be extra staff this year so the wait will be faster. Walk-ins are welcome. One of Ken’s favorite things to do was to give blood.

Birth prep class starts April 3

NORWAY — The Family Birthplace at Stephens Memorial Hospital will hold their next four-day Preparing for Birth Class. Classes will be held Thursday evenings, April 3, 11, 18 and 24 from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. in the Harper Conference Room at the Ripley Medical Office Building, 193 Main St. Hilary Ware, R.N., will facilitate the course.

Information on making a birth plan, comfort measures, stages of labor and cesarean delivery are all explored. A question-and-answer session is part of the class.
