1922 – 2014

WATERVILLE — Madeline M. Vachon, 91, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 17, at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville, following a long illness.

She was born in Waterville on Aug. 21, 1922, a daughter of the late Adolphe and Angelina (Tanguay) Veilleux, and attended Waterville schools. She was a homemaker for most of her life and worked for several years at Hallowell Shoe Co.

Madeline was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta and was a member of the Cushnoc Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her son, Jerry Vachon, of Hallowell; two daughters, Elaine Albert and her husband, Roger, of Lewiston and Dolores “Del” Pelletier and her husband, Peter, of Sidney; seven grandchildren, Cheri Rodrigue, Paul Albert, Peter and Jim Pelletier, Carol Caron, Lynn Levesque and Nathan Michaud; 15 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Tim Albert, Kirsten, Kailey and Grace Pelletier, Erica and Sean Rodrigue, Dominic Moore, Logan and Gavin Levesque, Sara Blair and Madeline, Riley, Bella and Brady Michaud; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Armand G. Vachon; five brothers, Florent, Roland, Conrad, Babe and Ernest Veilleux; and four sisters, Lillian LaBrasseur, Simone Vashon, Marietta Thomas and Theresa Roderick.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lakewood Continuing Care Center, Moonlight Bay Unit, for the care and compassion given to their mother and the family during her stay at the facility.
