AUGUSTA — A story published on Page C2 Sunday should have said deep-sea fishing outfit Maine Ocean Adventures doesn’t fish for great white sharks.

“We have never tried to catch a great white shark and would not because they are federally protected,” Capt. Ron Littlefield said Monday via email. “In fact, if anyone should ever hook into one they are supposed to cut the line immediately.”

Additionally, the shark head mount in the company’s booth at the Maine Sportsman’s Show in Augusta on Saturday was not a great white shark mount. Littlefield said it was a promotional mount that was created to look like a shark, but is not species specific.
