PORTLAND — Mainers will likely get another option under the Affordable Care Act insurance marketplace next year.
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care told the Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/1i7pi52 ) that it plans to join a co-op, Maine Community Health Options, and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, in the marketplace. An official said Harvard Pilgrim, which already operates in Maine, intends to offer plans in 2015, with signups in the fall.
An Aetna spokeswoman said that insurer, which also operates in Maine, hasn’t decided whether to join the marketplace.
The six-month enrollment period for individuals to buy insurance in the marketplace for 2014 ended Monday.
So far, Maine Community Health Options has signed up the most Mainers. All told, more than 25,000 residents had signed up through February, the latest available figures.
