1931 – 2014

LEWISTON — Richard J.D. White Sr., 82, of Lewiston, passed away on Thursday, April 3, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 14, 1931, a son of the late Virgil and Alma (Demers) White. He was educated at Jordan School. He entered the U.S. Army in 1948 during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1951. Richard was married to Laureanne (Drouin) White on Oct. 30, 1981.

He was employed by Eastern Die Co. on Winter Street in Auburn for more than 36 years. He retired in 1993, and worked part-time as a security guard at Liberty Mutual and at Jolly Farmer Products in Poland.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 106 and a member of the American Legion Post 22 in Lewiston.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Laureanne, of Lewiston; his two sons, Richard White Jr. and his wife, Roxanne, of Auburn and Robert White and his wife, Cathy, of Poland; as well as four stepchildren, Roger Roy of Lewiston, Rachel Robitaille and her husband, Alan, of Portland, Diane Bourgoin and her husband, John, of Lisbon and France Morneault and her husband, Normand, of Sabattus. He also leaves behind two sisters, Doris Ruff, of Norton, Mass. and Shirley Savage of Bingham; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Richard was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Brown, of Auburn; and a brother, Roland White, of Florida.
