1935 – 2014

CORNING, N.Y. — Irene E. Legendre, 78, of Corning, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, April 6, at the Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, following a 20-year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Lewiston on Sept. 19, 1935, the daughter of Dorothy and Fernand Leclerc. She graduated from high school in 1953, then obtained her registered nurse degree from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Lewiston. She then pursued further training in the nurse anesthetist program at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester, Mass. She was employed as a nurse anesthetist at St. Mary’s Hospital for 28 years.

Irene is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Robert; daughter, Diane Legendre; son-in-law, James Webb; and grandsons, Luke and Nathan.
