LEWISTON — The 2014 Androscoggin County Multiple Sclerosis Walk will be held on Saturday, April 12, at Lewiston High School. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. in the gym and the walk will start promptly at 10, rain or shine.

The five-mile course extends through the Bates College area and shorter walk routes are available. Thanks to the generous donations of local businesses, doughnuts and a light lunch will be provided to everyone participating in the Walk as well as refreshments throughout the walk route.

Door prizes and raffle prizes will also be handed out at the walk. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the walk and the drawing for the prizes will be held immediately following the conclusion of the walk.

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease which affects more than 400 families in Androscoggin County and 3,000 families in the state of Maine alone.

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic disease which effects the central nervous system and there is currently no known cause or cure for this disease.

Seven walks will be held statewide throughout the year.

All money raised helps with research, client services and advocacy for those affected by this disease. There are several support groups statewide to assist MS patients and their families. For more information on the self help groups, visit www.msmaine.org.
