1922 – 2014

SOUTH PARIS — Edmund C. Barker, 91, of Stoneham, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.

He was born in Waterford on May 24, 1922, the son of Cecil McAllister Barker and Eva Crouse Barker. Ed served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He was postmaster at the Stoneham Post Office and worked nights at A.C. Lawrence Leather Co.

Ed was a lifetime member of Stoneham Rescue and was active for several years. He loved to hunt, fish and take his dog, Smoke, to yard sales.

Ed is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth “Bette”; his son, Cecil and wife, Anita, of Harrison; two grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor McCaffrey of Milford and Glenna Trask of Saco; and a brother, Chester Barker, of Bolsters Mills.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Glendon Wight.
