The Oxford County Educators Association-Retired (OCEA-R) held their first meeting of the year on March 14 at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. The culinary arts class served a fine meal appreciated by all. President John Kimball presided over the business meeting before dinner, and Miles Hunt of Dow’s Law Office, Norway, Maine, presented a program on “elder law.” The information was very appropriate, and Mr. Hunt made the session very interesting. He followed his remarks by answering questions from the group.
The April 11 meeting also will be held at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in the culinary arts area. Sign-in and socialization will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by a brief business meeting, the meal served by OHCHS culinary arts students, and a program on how quilts were part of the Underground Railroad during the time of slavery.
Anyone who has retired from the field of education is invited to join us. Retired custodians, bus drivers, and cafeteria workers are welcome. OCEA-R contributes in many ways to the community, and it also advocates for the interests of its members and the schools in the area.
