FARMINGTON — The annual Spring Vidalia onion sale by the Farmington Rotary Club is a sure sign that spring has arrived, at least in the southern climates.
The sweet onion sale benefits the Safe Passage Project 2014, which is a Rotary-sponsored effort to help educate the “dump kids” in Guatemala and improve their opportunities for one day breaking free of that devastating environment. More information on that project is available at www.safepassage.org.
“Onions are an important component of a healthy diet and they keep well if stored in a cool, dry place,” said Tom Sawyer, president of the Farmington Rotary Club. “They are also fat-free, cholesterol-free and sodium-free, which can’t be said about certain cookie sales that are also happening this time of year.”
The price for a 25-pound bag is $27 or $15 if you prefer to split a bag. Order deadline is April 24. To order, contact Tom Sawyer at Franklin Savings Bank, 778-2900, or any Farmington Rotarian.
