PORTLAND (AP) — Bowdoin College President Barry Mills will resign in June 2015.
The Brunswick, Maine, college announced the resignation on Monday. The 63-year-old Mills is in his 13th year as president of the college.
Mills said in a statement that he is not retiring from work and will seek another “professional challenge.” He is the college’s 14th president.
Mills is a Rhode Island native who graduated from Bowdoin in 1972 and went on to earn a doctorate in biology from Syracuse University and a law degree from Columbia University.
He served as deputy presiding partner of New York City-based law firm Debevoise & Plimpton before becoming president of Bowdoin.
College officials said the members of a search committee that will find a new president will be named in May.
