MEXICO — The Mexico Historical Society will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, April 21, in the Calvin Lyons Meeting Room at the Mexico Town Hall to discuss plans for this year.

Society member Lorraine Legere said a potluck supper will be served at 5 p.m., followed by discussion about which events should be held this year. Legere said the society will focus on fundraisers.

“We already have a plant sale in the works,” she said, “but we’re always looking for new ways to bring money into the historical society.”

One idea that may be discussed is a cookbook with recipes from Mexico residents, she said.

“The cookbook is just an idea that we have at this point,” Legere said. “We haven’t decided whether we’re going to do that, but it’s one of the things we’ll be discussing at our meeting.”

The Historical Society is accepting old photographs of U.S. servicemen and servicewomen from Mexico, Legere said.

“The photographs will be used for a display that society member Eileen Hutchinson is attempting to put together,” Legere said. “The photographs will be returned after they’re scanned.”

Legere added that the society will participate in the Maine Memory Network RSU 10 Scanning Project again this year. The purpose of the project is to preserve the histories of towns and their people at the Maine Historical Society website.
