Mother-Son dance in Lisbon
LISBON — The third annual Lisbon Mother-Son Mother’s Day Dance is scheduled for May 10. The event will be held at the MTM Center in Lisbon Falls from 6 to 8 p.m.
Advance tickets are at the Lisbon Recreation Department for $10 per couple and $5 each additional child through May 8. Tickets are also available at the door for $15 per couple/additional child for $5 each.
Positive Change Lisbon and the Lisbon Recreation Department are sponsoring the event. Mother-son portraits available by a professional photographer. DJ, dancing, refreshments and door prizes.
Sabattus Seniors to meet May 1
SABATTUS — Sabattus Seniors will meet Thursday, May 1, at Maxwell Gill Hall. Doors open at 11 a.m.; this month’s meal will be KFC.
Meal will be followed by the meeting and bingo. RSVP by April 25 to Pauline at 375-4037.
The seniors have two trip coordinators with many trips now available.

Library to offer WordPress class
AUBURN — WordPress 101 will start on Monday, April 28, at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St. Participants will learn to use WordPress, a platform where the average person can create and manage a website rather easily.
Join Scott Hill of Dojo Digital for a hands-on introduction to WordPress and its features. This five week class will meet every Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. from April 28 until June 2.
This class has limited space so advanced registration is required. To register, call the library at 333-6640, ext. 4.
YWCA Swim Team joins USA Swimming
LEWISTON — YWCA’s Swim Team is now participating in USA Swimming and Maine Swimming, and begins its next session on April 29.
The YWCA of Central Main’s swim team, The Tiger Sharks, is now a member of USA Swimming and Maine Swimming.
This is an opportunity for boys and girls, ages 7 to 14, who love to swim in a more competitive environment.
Swimmers will learn the basic fundamentals of competitive strokes and being part of a team in a positive and encouraging environment. Coaches will focus on stroke development, increasing endurance, nutrition, and dry land conditioning.
Practices will be offered three times a week, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with additional practices offered in the summer beginning June 23. Participating in three practices a week is strongly recommended.
To join, children must be able to swim one length (25 yards) of the pool without stopping.
Swim meets are May 18, June 7, June 28, and July 12, 13.

Prostate cancer presentation
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing will sponsor “An Update on Prostate Cancer” on April 30.
Michael Brown, M.D., a radiation oncologist at Central Maine Medical Center’s Cynthia A. Rydholm Cancer Treatment Center, will discuss prostate cancer and treatment options.
Prostate cancer is second only to skin cancer in prevalence among American men. But if detected early and properly treated, the disease can be successfully managed.
The presentation is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the Dempsey Center, 29 Lowell Street, fifth floor, Lewiston

Cribbage League winners announced
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on April 17 were: first place, Moe Fournier and Roger Charpentier; second place, Richard Champagne and Bert Chenard; third place, Gene Brown and Arnie Burgess; fourth place, Ike LeCompte and Ronnie Gould; fifth place: Edith Chambers and Dick Laplante.
