OXFORD — The annual Oxford Home Show kicks off Friday as manufactured home companies on Route 26 display new models.

The show will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 25, through Sunday, April 27, at Schiavi Home Builders, Turn Key Homes of Maine and Twin Town Homes.

“The market is definitely improving; a lot more people feel more confident in their purchasing power now,” Kristin Jones of Twin Town Homes Inc. said. The company sells single- and double-wide homes and custom-built modulars, including a new line of Excel Homes.

The show’s signature sponsor, Norway Savings Bank, will have loan officers at all three locations to assist buyers with financing questions.

Hundreds of potential customers are expected to tour the scores of modular and manufactured homes in what is billed as the largest show of its kind in New England.

Manufactured and modular housing is one of the largest industries in the Oxford Hills region, employing hundreds of people. But during the economic downturn in the past five years, it took a hit, as did most businesses.

Jones said they have seen a turn in the market for the past two years. Home appraisals are going higher and people are more willing to look at buying new homes again, she said.

With the improvement of the economy, industry officials say customers have been coming back over the past few years.

Turn Key Homes, at 698 Main St., which builds homes in Maine and New Hampshire, offers a variety of options, from start-to-finish construction to everything in between. Turn Key will showcase its homes, including two new Keiser modulars.

Schiavi Home Builders, at 754 Main St., offers a wide array of custom-built modular homes.
