1956 – 2014

MECHANIC FALLS — Joseph Flanders, 58, of Mechanic Falls, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 16, at his home.

He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 30, 1956, the son of Kenneth Phillip and Eleanor Mason Flanders. He graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1974. He was a union business director for the International Association of Machinists and Shipbuilding Workers.

Joseph married Rachel Bean on Aug. 10, 1979. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and four-wheeling. He was a Red Sox and Patriots fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. A big part of his childhood was spent with his uncle, Richard, racing at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Joseph is survived by his wife of Mechanic Falls; three daughters, Heather and fiancé, Eben Breton, Tricia Flanders and Kelly Ciriello and husband, Mathew; grandchildren, Skye, Isaiah, Zayn, Dakota, Eben Roger, Logan, Aiden and one on the way; mother, Eleanor Flanders; sisters, Debra Olmstead and husband, Reggie, and Wendy Flanders; many nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles; and his dogs.

He was predeceased by his father.
