OXFORD — A Farmingdale woman was arrested early Wednesday morning after police found heroin in her purse while she was parked outside the Oxford Casino. 

Danielle M. Fredette, 28, was charged with a felony count of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, Class C, in South Paris District Court on Wednesday afternoon. 

According to an Oxford County Jail official, Fredette was released on personal recognizance following her court appearance.

If convicted, she faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. 

In an arrest report, Oxford police officer Jeremy Coron said he was called to the casino on Route 26 shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a woman “sitting in a vehicle doing drugs.”

According to his report, Coron found Fredette sitting in the passenger side of a 2000 Dodge Caravan. When he asked her to step out of the vehicle, he saw a glass tray fall off her lap and a razor blade where she was sitting.

Coron said in a subsequent search he found suspected heroin in her purse. It was later confirmed as heroin in a test by Oxford police officer Zane Loper, according to court records.

Neither Coron nor ranking members of the Oxford Police Department were available to elaborate on the case Wednesday afternoon, but Oxford police officer Reggie Littlefield said the case is still under investigation. 

Possession of heroin is a felony in Maine, Littlefield said.
