PORTLAND — The Maine Supreme Judicial Court has upheld the 2012 murder conviction of a Norridgewock man found guilty of fatally shooting another man over a drug dispute.

The court affirmed Justice John Nivison’s decision on Thursday. Nivison found Robert Nelson guilty of killing Everett Cameron in his pickup truck in Anson on Oct. 31, 2009.

Prosecutors said Nelson was buying painkillers that Cameron was taking for treatment of lymphoma.

Nelson is serving a 45-year prison sentence for the murder. He was sentenced in March 2013.

Nelson waived his right to a jury during his trial in Somerset County Superior Court. He testified that he met Cameron but didn’t shoot him. Nivison ruled that the state had proven his guilt during the trial.
