1924 – 2014

TURNER — Clifton C. Lee, 89, a resident of Turner, died peacefully on Thursday, April 24, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Livermore on Dec. 20, 1924, a son of Clyde Lee and Elsie (Gordon) Lee. He attended school in Livermore. On Sept. 26, 1942, in Livermore, he married his wife of 71 years, Laurel Poland, of Turner.

Clifton worked as a self-employed farmer for many years, then at Callahan Construction in Auburn and from 1983 to 1994, he was a caretaker for the Dupont family in Connecticut and Florida.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but especially wintering with his wife in North Port, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Laurel Lee, of Turner; two sons, Lawrence Lee and his wife, Mary, of Leeds and Gerald Young and his wife, Karen, of Topsham; two daughters, Marcia Timberlake and her husband, Carroll, of Turner and Carol Ann Dunn of Turner; four brothers, George Lee and his wife, Marilyn, of Canton, Clayton Lee and his wife, Pat, of Buckfield, Roger Lee of Livermore and Sherman and his wife, Hilda, of Gardiner; and two sisters, Ellen Chamberlain of Canton and Carolyn Adams and her husband, Harold, of Auburn.

He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth Lee, in 1959; and brothers, Milton and Erlon Lee.

Clifton’s family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to him during his illness.
