AUBURN — Skowhegan broke open a tie game with three runs in the top of the sixth inning Friday and held on for a 6-4 KVAC baseball victory over Edward Little at Auburn Suburban Little League.

Nate Morris, Trey Michonski and Chase Nelson had RBIs in the winning rally for the Indians (1-1).

The Red Eddies (0-1) fought back with a run in the bottom of the seventh, but Nelsen slammed the door to polish off his complete game mound effort. Nelsen struck out seven, walked one and scattered nine hits.

Elijah Roe was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored for EL, which answered two Skowhegan runs in the second with a pair in its own half of the inning, and also echoed the Indians’ single run in the fifth.

Drew Lashua and Mike Hammond each added two hits for the Eddies. Both of Lashua’s safeties were doubles, and he drove in a run. Nate Pushard worked six innings for EL and took the loss.

Nelsen and Adam Clukey each smacked an extra-base hit for Skowhegan.

Leavitt 5, Morse 2

BATH — Mitchel Davis pitched a strong game on the mound to go along with timely hitting, as Leavitt topped Morse 5-2 in a boys’ baseball matchup on Friday.

Josh Daigle had the only extra base hit for the Hornets (1-0), which was a double that knocked in two runs. Drew Gosselin led Leavitt with three hits, while Daigle, Levi Morin and Nate Coombs all smacked a pair.

Trenton Moore and Andrew Lacavera scattered two hits apiece for the Shipbuilders, who fell to 1-1 on the season.

Oak Hill 9. Mtn. Valley 0

WALES — Parker Asselin pitched a five-hit shutout as Oak Hill cruised to a 9-0 victory over Mtn. Valley in boys’ baseball action.

Jake Martin drove in two runs in the fourth inning to add some breathing room for Asselin, who recorded his first win of the season on the mound. Catcher Jake Bannister sliced three singles at the plate for the Raiders, who improved to 2-0 on the season.

Mountain Valley used three pitchers on the day. J.T. Greene tallied two hits for the Falcons (0-1).

Oxford Hills 12, Bangor 4

SOUTH PARIS — Dalton Rice controlled the pace of the game with six strikeouts on the mound and five RBIs as Oxford Hills ran to a 12-4 win over Bangor in boys’ baseball Friday.

Rice led the Vikings (2-0) with four hits while throwing six strong innings on the mound. Matt Beauchesne, Brady LaFrance, Riley Chickering and Matt Smith all notched a pair of hits to boost Oxford Hills.

Jordan Derrah tallied a pair of doubles for the Rams (0-1).

Softball

Oxford Hills 4, Bangor 3

PARIS — Crystal West threw five scoreless innings as Oxford Hills stretched past Bangor, 4-3, in KVAC girls’ softball on Friday.

West added in a pair of hits to help her effort on the mound, while Anna Winslow notched two as well, including a triple. Skyler Cassum took the loss pitching for the Rams (0-1). She also smacked two doubles.

Leavitt 33, Morse 0

BATH — Leavitt’s bats were hot on Friday, scoring 17 runs in the second inning en route to a 33-0 rout of Morse in girls’ softball action.

Ashley Kelley and Abby Roberston pitched a shut out for Leavitt (1-0) to give the offense room to work. Livie Gilbert led Leavitt bats with four hits, including a triple. Angela Daigle hit a solo shot while tacking on a pair of other hits as well.

Spruce Mtn. 20, St. Dom’s 5

AUBURN — Paced by strong pitching and a nine-run third inning, Spruce Mountain shot out to a 20-5 victory in five innings over St. Dom’s in an MVC girls’ softball game played Thursday.

Alex Bessey recorded the win pitching for the lady Phoenix with five strikeouts and four walks while giving up just one hit. LaDesta Tracy finished with a triple, a double and four runs batted in. Destiny White was a consistent bat at the plate, belting three hits for the Phoenix (1-0).
