LEWISTON — Kora Shriners have announced that they will host the 2015 Northeast Shrine Association Fall Field Days in Lewiston-Auburn. The Field Days will take place Sept. 17 through 20.

A committee is working to make this a premier event for Maine and specifically for the Lewiston/Auburn community. Representatives recently returned from a planning/education weekend in Springfield, Mass., and have ideas to make it a memorable event. Director General Karl Finnimore and Chief Rabban Rick Hersom are excited to bring the event to the Central Maine area.

Hersom said, “We hope to bring 3,000 Shriners and their families from all over New England and Canada to Lewiston for this four- day event that will feature many activities, including a huge Shriners Parade in downtown Lewiston on Saturday afternoon.

“In the past we have held this event in Portland,” said Director General Karl Finnimore, “Our Shrine Center is located in Lewiston and we feel this area is ready and excited about hosting an event like this.”

Plans are under way with area hotels to have up to 600 rooms available for the guests attending this event.

Kora Shriners is part of Shriners International and has approximately 309,000 members in 195 centers in the United States, Canada, Germany, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico and the Republic of Panama.

Shriners International supports Shriners Hospitals for Children, a health system of 22 hospitals providing pediatric specialty care, research, medical education and educational opportunities for medical professionals.
