LISBON— Meghan Craig, a Class of 2011 graduate of Lisbon High School, was the second of recent graduates to be invited to participate in a MELMAC Education Program Aspirations project at the school.

Craig, who is currently attending the University of New England and majoring in dental hygiene, spoke about her experiences as a college student to LHS students on March 19.

“Our Aspirations grant from The MELMAC Education Foundation provides us with financial support and resources throughout the school year,” according to Monica Millhime, community resources/grant lead for Lisbon schools. “We have a dedicated group of stakeholders on our Aspirations Committee who pride themselves on providing the opportunities and tools needed for students to achieve their aspirations beyond high school.”

According to Millhime, “one new strategy adopted by the group is to invite our alumni, and other members of the community, to share their successes as they embark on educational journeys after graduation.”

According to Craig, her experiences at Lisbon High School helped prepare her for success in college. She stressed involvement in academics, athletics, other clubs and community service programs,  both at high school and college, as extremely important for students to embrace.

Craig is the daughter of Kathi and Jerry Yergin of Lisbon Falls and Betsy and Jim Craig of Massachusetts.
